Board Exam Preparation: A 60-Day Study Plan for Class 10 and 12
Two months is enough time to revise well — if you use it in the right order. Here is a week-by-week board exam plan you can start today.
Sixty days before the board exams, most students feel there's too much left. Two months is enough to revise well — if you use the time in the right order. Here's a plan that works for CBSE, ICSE and State Board students in Class 10 and Class 12.
Before you start: take stock (Day 1)
Make a list of every chapter in every subject and mark each one:
- Green — confident
- Yellow — understand it, need practice
- Red — weak or not studied
This 30-minute exercise tells you exactly where your time should go.
Weeks 1–3 (Days 2–21): Close the gaps
- Spend most of your time on red chapters, one subject per study block.
- Use your textbook first — board papers are written from it (NCERT for CBSE).
- Make one-page summary notes for each chapter: formulas, definitions, key diagrams, dates.
- Ask for help early on topics you can't crack alone.
Daily target: 2–3 focused study blocks of about 50 minutes, with short breaks.
Weeks 4–6 (Days 22–42): Revise and practise
- Revise yellow chapters and keep touching green ones so you don't forget them.
- Solve chapter-wise previous years' questions after revising each chapter.
- Start one full-length sample paper per subject each week, timed like the real exam.
- After each paper, list your mistakes in a "mistakes notebook" — this becomes your most valuable revision material.
Weeks 7–8 (Days 43–56): Exam mode
- Solve at least 3 full papers per subject under exam conditions.
- Practise answer presentation: underline keywords, draw neat labelled diagrams, show every step in numericals — board marking rewards steps.
- Revise only from your summary notes and mistakes notebook now. No new books.
Final 4 days: Calm revision
- Light revision of formulas, definitions and diagrams.
- Sleep on time, eat properly, and keep a short walk in your day.
- Pack your admit card, pens and instruments the night before.
Smart habits through all 60 days
- Study in the morning for hard subjects, when your mind is fresh.
- Keep the phone away during study blocks — put it in another room.
- Teach a topic to a sibling or friend; explaining shows what you truly know.
- Rest one evening a week. A rested brain revises faster.
Subject-specific tips
- Maths: practise daily; time pressure is the real enemy, so solve papers with a timer.
- Science / Physics / Chemistry / Biology: diagrams, reactions and derivations score heavily — practise drawing and writing them.
- English: practise letter, notice and essay formats; read the question twice.
- Social Science: use maps, timelines and flowcharts to remember facts.
